Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Cincinnati, Ohio, Coastal Club is an indie pop sensation known for their infectious guitar-driven hooks and uplifting, high-spirited anthems. Drawing from influences like Young the Giant and COIN, Coastal Club exudes a refreshing sense of optimism and joy through their music, while creating a sonic landscape that is both electrifying and comforting. Though based in landlocked Ohio, there is a longing for the coast found in their romantic, lighthearted, and beachy melodies.

Following the success of their second release, Coastal Club is set to release “all of the things you said” in the spring of 2024. While the EP still fits within the Indie-Pop genre that the band is known for, they attempted to add more depth and weight to their sound. Though many of the songs sound lighthearted and playful, upon further investigation, the listener will find that many of these songs deal with heavier topics, including mental health, dissecting religion, and love-lost. They did so by blending their classic lighthearted guitar riffs with more somber synth sounds to create a sonic palette that is truly diversified.

The band kicks off this release cycle with a song titled “cigarettes” which is a nostalgic and celebratory song about holding onto the youthful spirit and passion of our earlier years. With lyrics that reminisce on the thrill of youth and the freedom of being unapologetically ourselves, this song encourages listeners to never lose sight of the passion from their youth.

The next single, “conversation” stands as a paradox, a sonic dichotomy where the buoyant melody belies the poignant introspection embedded within its lyrics. This track invites listeners to dance upon the waves of a surfy, indie-rock euphoria while grappling with the weighty themes of faith and disillusionment.

All of the remaining songs on “all of the things you said” fall somewhere in between the tonal contrast laid out between these two singles. The project is mostly an aural journal that, in writing, helped the band make sense of their religious upbringing, and why we choose to believe the things we were taught from a young age. However, peppered throughout the project, are songs that deal with finding love and resolution along the way.
