“Kathy Free-As-The-Wind” is a musical play about a Hungarian prankster clever enough to outwit the king.
Rudi and Duna are two sisters getting ready for bed in the bedroom they share. Their grandma Nagyanya tells them a story she learned when she was a child in her homeland of Hungary. The story is about Little Kathy, Free-as-the-Wind, who was the cleverest person in the whole land. When pompous King Imre hears about Kathy, he challenges her to try to fool him, believing it to be impossible. After all, he is King Imre! How could some little girl be smarter than he?
Kathy, along with her best friend Cimbora, proceeds to fool the king. Then, she does it again. And again! Finally, King Imre has Kathy arrested and things get really odd (as most fairy tales do). Rudi and Duna announce they are going to change the story. Can they even do such a thing?
This musical comedy has dozens of unique characters, lots of laughs, catchy tunes, and an important message about how, if we don’t like something, we can do something about it!
