Her debut full-length solo album, While I Was Away, expands her lyrical focus to the world around her: “Lately I’ve been reflecting more on the people in my life, how their lives intertwine and change. This album looks back at my past few years in Nashville—all the people and experiences that have shaped me since leaving Chicago.” There’s an alluring depth to Kelson’s vocals—a balance of sophistication and compelling vulnerability: Her voice is perfectly pure, yet deeply human. Written and produced by Kelson, While I Was Away showcases her ability to transform natural melodic lines and simple, narrative lyrics into moving and well-rounded anthems. The songs are laced with tight vocal harmonies reminiscent of early Grand Ole’ Opry performances, creating an inviting mix of lively Americana spirit and candid, classic country heart. Since the release of her album, Kelson was named by NPR as one of 10 rising artists in Nashville, and was chosen as a finalist in Kerrville Folk Festival’s NewFolk competition.

Luxembourgish/American folk musician Levi Lamberjack has always been on a journey to bring new life to old sounds, drawing inspirations from the Appalachian folk, blues, jazz, and country music bred in the land he grew up in. His eclectic repertoire brings a unique timbre to his sound, yet the listener still feels a sense of familiarity and a sacred sort of rootedness. His smooth and confident vocals and old-timey guitar are sure to intrigue, and hopefully touch and inspire. Drawing inspiration from pioneers and revivalists of traditional folk music recording such as Dave Van Ronk, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, and Mississippi John Hurt, and later from the heartfelt new songs of Blaze Foley, Tom Paxton, and Utah Phillips, Levi blends the ailments of ages past with the very real trials of modern society and personal woes. Modern comparisons include C.W. Stoneking, Willie Watson, and Jeffrey Martin. Lamberjack gained his experience from the small DIY music scenes of central Indiana, sparking a deep interest in music, and, when he moved to the northern part of the state, discovering a newfound love for his roots. He now lives between Berlin, Germany, and South Bend, Indiana, and has found a place in each city’s mighty music scenes.
