Her last studio album, Never Been Home (#23 on the Americana charts and #1 on the Alt-Country Radio charts), showcased her signature writing style through 12 eclectic original Americana songs. She is currently writing her next original album and, in the meantime, releasing a new jazz album, Massive Negroni.
Massive Negroni, recorded in 2021 at Old Soul Studios, is a quartet record featuring guitarist Thor Jensen (Ashley Campbell, Hazmat Modine, Postmodern Jukebox), bassist Dylan Perillo (Hot Club of Saratoga), and drummer Chris Gelb (JD McPherson, Jessica Simpson, Margo Price, Asleep at the Wheel). The album spans material from Tom Waits to Sugar Pie DeSanto to Duke Ellington and can best be described as Americana jazz. This is her first full-length jazz album released independently, and that creative freedom is reflected in the quartet’s boldly individual sound. Guided solely by Sweet Megg’s vision, the music highlights the distinct personalities of each musician, resulting in a jazz record that feels curious, playful, and deeply personal—one she’s thrilled to share.
She began her career performing in dingy bars, coffee shops, and DIY loft venues of the East Village and Brooklyn. At 22, she moved to Paris to study jazz vocals, gigging across the city before returning to New York to spend a decade as a full-time jazz vocalist, steeped in the traditions of early jazz and blues. Her debut indie-jazz album, Under the Moonlight (2020), released on Bushwick’s Dala Records, caught the attention of Scott Asen, trustee of The Paris Review, who launched Turtle Bay Records with Megg as one of its debut artists. This partnership produced I’m in Love Again (2021) before she relocated to Nashville, where she wrote and produced her first studio original album, Christine’s Daughter, with renowned Nashville producer Roger Moutenot. In Nashville, she released 2 more albums blending jazz and country: My Window Faces the South (2022) and Bluer than Blue (2023). Megg toured globally with Postmodern Jukebox from 2021 to 2023, including a viral 1920s-style collaboration, and later led a Cirque du Soleil country music project.
