“Katie Dahl’s songs aren’t just melodies and words, they’re journeys that are firmly grounded in a sense of place—beautiful, real landscapes that help you feel places that you may have never been before. That’s the very best kind of songwriting.” – Dar Williams

Clear-eyed and tough-minded, songwriter/playwright Katie Dahl is known for her smart songs, wry wit, and wise spirit. A small-town celebrity on the Wisconsin peninsula where her family has lived for 175 years, Katie is also an internationally touring, radio-charting artist who “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty, soulful voice” (American Songwriter). In live shows that are both courageously honest and devilishly funny, Katie dives deep into questions of land and love, family and body image, grief and joy.

Katie’s most recent album, Seven Stones (2023), is a deep dive into vulnerability originally titled Things Katie Dahl Finds Hard to Say. Produced by Julie Wolf and featuring appearances by such luminaries as Kris Delmhorst, Peter Mulvey, Eliza Gilkyson, Vicki Randle, Todd Sickafoose, and Jenny Scheinman, the album was praised as “breathtaking” by Country Queer and spent a month at #2 on the folk radio charts.

With his vintage country voice & narrative lyrics, Alex Teller creates music that’s as honest & authentic as the artist himself. Born in Florida and raised in the suburbs of Long Island, Alex moved to Michigan at 19 where he found a jackpot of traditional songs through his deep love for Jerry Garcia & the music of The Grateful Dead. Teller soon started a solo career playing shows & began diving deep into traditional Folk music & the sounds that inspired him the most. Endless nights studying & transcribing the works of writers like Bob Dylan, John Prine & Townes Van Zandt turned into a whole new wave of inspiration & songwriting.

Alex released his debut self-titled EP, “Alex Teller” in January of 2023. The album consists of four original songs, drawing sounds from traditional American songwriters such as Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Willie Nelson, in both a nostalgic & fresh way. Produced by the artist himself, “Alex Teller” expresses a tasteful classic tone, fitting for an artist whose roots drink from the deep well of America’s traditional folk music & the lore of storytelling. While shaping & molding the album, Teller collaborated with an all-star lineup of Michigan music legends (including Peter Madcat Ruth, Drew Howard, and Bill Fuller), adding brilliant color & texture to each of his heartfelt songs.

Katie Dahl was 19 years old when she slipped on a patch of sidewalk ice and broke her wrist. Suddenly unable to play the oboe in her college orchestra, Katie decided to use her newfound free time to learn guitar, teaching herself chord progressions as she strummed the strings with her stiff right hand. Seven years later, that icy day has proven to be a blessing in disguise, as Katie earns a reputation as an accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist whom acclaimed author and poet Parker Palmer has called “a singer-songwriter you need to get to know.”

After graduating from college with a degree in English literature, this honey-voiced musician turned her attention to the acoustic folk music she had always loved, singing everywhere from the cliff country of Mali, West Africa, to the canals of southern France to outdoor theaters nestled in the American northwoods. Katie currently makes her home in Door County, Wisconsin, and is fast making a name for herself with her rich alto voice, unpretentious vocals, intricate fingerpicking, and incisive lyricism.

In 2009, Katie released her debut album, County Line, which has been described as “a folk-infused exploration of love and the American landscape.” On County Line, Katie features eight original songs full of sharp insight and lilting poetry, as well as lending her unmistakable voice to Wisconsin songwriter Fred Alley’s “Gibraltar Town” and John Prine’s classic anthem “Paradise.” Katie is now on the road promoting County Line, meeting new friends and watching out for ice wherever she roams.
