7pm Deep Fried Pickle Project
‘s songs echo back and forth from the 1920s to the 2091s. At once playful and irreverent—Hokum and Honkytonk Space Sushi all rolled up into one. The Pickles run the gamut of old-timey styles, even grabbing an occasional ’80s pop tune and turning it into a flap happy chicken scratchy 78-rpm tune. They’ve collaborated/jammed with the Del McCoury Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Chris Thile, Everyone Orchestra, ALO, and the Gourds.
8pm The Knife Kickers
are coming all the way from Connecticut to squash grapes with us, and they’re really nice and play some jaggedly soupy punk with a sneaky melodicism and an adventurous mixture of time signature and quiet-loud that feels unfettered by genre shackles in the best way.
JAM they’re latest album Nameless out on Redscroll Records.
9pm Modern Lady Fitness out of Ypsilanti, MI, recalls “the icy early years of Factory Records where bands like The Wake, Crispy Ambulance, and early New Order played a kind of moody, spacious, punk-inspired, jangly art-rock” – A2 Pulp
JAM the compilation album FEAST, recorded by Fred Thomas (whom we love).
